Restrictions for G1 Driving License Holders (Level one)
New drivers are encouraged to take a driver education course during level one, which lasts 12 months. Completing an approved course can shorten the wait time from one to eight months.

No alcohol
Maintain a zero blood alcohol content level.
Seat belts
Ensure all passengers wear working seatbelts.
Curfew
Avoid driving between midnight and 5 a.m.
Road Limits
Don't drive on 400-series highways and expressways. (Queen Elizabeth Way, Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway in the Greater Toronto Area, the E.C. Row Expressway in Windsor and the Conestoga Parkway in Kitchener-Waterloo)


Driving Supervisor
Drive with a fully licensed driver who has:
at least four years of driving experience
A blood alcohol level of less than .05 (if this person is 21 and under, their blood alcohol level should be zero)
The driver accompanying you must be the only person in the front seat. If you are driving with a driver instructor certified in Ontario, you can drive on any road.
Practice Period
Level 1 lasts 12 months ( 8 months if you complete an approved course).
